Bethany Church, UCC lives into its biblical namesake, being an anchor point, offering gifts of comfort, hope, inspiration and renewal. No matter who you are or where you are on your journey, you are welcome at Bethany Church!

Weekly worship is held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m., both in person and via livestream. All ages gather to praise, pray, learn and listen. For a portion of the worship time, children are invited to participate in a one room Sunday School where they engage in the same story as the adults. Rooted in scripture, our services are enhanced by wonderful musicians who offer a wide range of Christian music, from traditional to contemporary. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome at the table.

Children in Worship

We welcome children of all ages to worship- either for the entire service or to spend part of the service in Sunday School. Worship Boxes are located on the table in the narthex. These boxes are designed to help your family worship together. They contain materials that help children learn how to worship – battery-operated candles, liturgical color activities, coloring pages relevant to the day’s Scripture and puzzles as well as fidget toys. Directions for using the box are taped to the lid. Please return the boxes to the table at the end of worship and take your children’s art home with you.

Beyond knowing about God, our goal is to foster a growing relationship with God for followers of all ages. This begins in our communal worship and continues with weekly and/or seasonal educational opportunities for children, youth and adults. We also foster faith formation at home with special resources such as “Season in a Bag.” Our goal is to help everyone see the loving presence of God in their lives, wherever they find themselves.

Sunday School

We offer a one-room Sunday School for children ages K-4th grade. We meet in room 102 in the office wing of the building. Each week, our Sunday Schoolers hear the same story from the Bible that adults do in worship. Following the story, we craft a project to explore the lesson theme. We include a time for prayer and for learning songs we sing in worship. We believe that it is important for parents and children to hear the same Scripture each week to further reflection, questions and learning together. Our program is also intentional in singing music we use in worship. This helps children participate when they join us for congregational worship.

For Fall 2024, our schedule is:

1st Sunday of the month: Children gather in room 102 for Sunday School. We join the congregation for Holy Communion.

2nd– 5th Sundays: Children begin in worship and leave for Sunday School following the Message to All of God’s Children.

Sunday School does not meet on Holiday weekends.

We reach out beyond our walls to love others. Beyond offering a free monthly Community Dinner, many hands join to make meals for those in need in the area (Foxboro Food Pantry, Lynn Ministries, Food and Friends). We support families in shelters such as New Hope with monthly Baskets of Hope. Our financial support of our denomination and other organizations (Attleboro Interfaith Collaborative, Church World Service, Harvest Hands Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, LGBTQ Asylum Task Force) meets many needs, both local and global. We support causes that move us toward a more just world for all. As an Open and Affirming congregation; we commit ourselves to making inclusivity a reality in this congregation, our community and the world.
